It was with much sadness that we learned of the sudden passing of two talented industry members on the weekend - American cinematographer, Mike deGruy and Melbourne’s own writer-producer, Andrew Wight.
They both lost their lives while doing what they loved - the tragedy was the result of a helicopter crash when they were setting out to film part of a documentary on the NSW coast.
Andrew had just recently been announced as managing director of the Australian office for James Cameron’s company Cameron Pace Group (CPG). The two were great friends and worked together on the successful Australian feature film SANCTUM, on which Andrew was writer/producer.
This is a great loss for both the local and international industry and our thoughts are with their family and friends.
